Xiaomi is building a massive technology park in China

The Xiaomi Tech park is spread across 22 million square meters, and consists of eight buildings. The project will be ready by 2018.

Xiaomi is constantly up to something new. In my opinion, Xiaomi is one of the most exciting companies to keep track of, with it investing and manufacturing the most unexpected of products. The latest new exciting news that comes from Xiaomi is a post from the company’s vice president Hugo Barra on Twitter. Barra has shared two pictures of a drone-eye-view of Xiaomi’s new tech park. In his brief tweet, Barra reveals that Xiaomi’s tech park will consist of eight buildings in total. The construction will be spread across a total of 22 million square meters. He also revealed that the project will be complete by 2018. The Xiaomi VP did not reveal a lot of details of the tech park, but we are eagerly waiting for a better view of the same.

Xiaomi in its early days was seen as a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, which heavily imitates Apple. But steadily, the company has proved its doubters wrong with launches across a wide range of categories. Xiaomi maybe building its own tech park at the time Apple’s spaceship-le Campus 2 is nearing completion, but the timing is coincidental. Building its own tech park in China just proves that Xiaomi is here to stay and it is much more than just an Apple imitator. Xiaomi has been expanding its portfolio from just being a smartphone manufacturer, to investing an entire ecosystem of Internet of Things (IoT) products. Xiaomi has released a 4K video drone, a smart kettle, a programmable Lego-like robot, air purifiers, and the list goes on. Xiaomi also created a crowdfunding platform called Mijia, which is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. It is essentially a new Mi ecosystem under which all the Internet of things fall.

Besides that, after launching its accessories, and the Mi Box in the US earlier this year, Xiaomi is taking the US market quite seriously. The Chinese company has announced that for the first time ever it will be present at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
