Xiaomi teases new Mi Notebook Air with 4G LTE connectivity

Earlier this year, Xiaomi introduced its first-ever laptop, the Mi Notebook Air, which not just mimicked Apple’s flagship MacBook Air in terms of name but also in looks. The company now plans to bring a successor to the super thin notebook before Christmas this year. Xiaomi has posted an image on its Weibo account teasing the launch of a new Mi Notebook Air in China.

While the details about the device are scarce at the moment, the teaser image shows off the Mi logo sitting next to the China Mobile logo. The laptop display also shows 4G signal bar, indicating that the upcoming laptop will come with 4G LTE support. It is expected that Xiaomi will continue with the same design for the second iteration of the Mi Notebook Air with a lightweight and ultra-thin body. As the teased image hints, the new laptop will come with a SIM card slot, which was missing on the predecessor. In terms of hardware, there are little chances of major upgrades.

The original Mi Notebook Air comes in display sizes of 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch with full HD resolution. We could expect the upcoming version to boast a quad HD resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels, which could set apart the newer models from the older ones. With 4G LTE support, the upcoming Mi Notebook Air will offer data connectivity on-the-go. But this could also limit the device to specific network providers. As of the now, the laptop appears to be China Mobile-exclusive.
